Campaign Story
Hi, my name is Chrystal Griffith. I have PCOS, and it makes it difficult to conceive or maintain a pregnancy. My husband Eli and I have been trying to conceive now for 14 years exactly and we’re at a dead end because of the PCOS.
PCOS affects 7-10% of women of childbearing age and is the most common cause of infertility. In the United States, an estimated 5 to 6 million women have PCOS.
Not only that but it can affect ovulation and egg quality along with successful implantation.
Common fertility treatments are ovulation-inducing medication called clomiphene citrate. It works by blocking estrogen receptors which signals the brain to release more follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone.
Letrozole (femara) Letrozole an armotase inhibitor
Blocks the conversion of androgens to estrogen. It is highly effective in inducing ovulation in women with PCOS, potentially offering higher ovulation rates compared to Clomid.
Gonadotropins are injectable that contain FSH and/or LH. They are often used when oral medications like Clomid or Letrozole are not effective or when multiple follicular development is desired.
Bromocriptine
This medication is a dopamine that can be used to reduce prolactin levels, which can sometimes be elevated in individuals with PCOS. It may be used in conjunction with other ovulation-inducing treatments or as a standalone treatment in some cases.
Other medical considerations and treatments are
Metformin while not directly an ovulation-inducing medication, metformin can be used to improve insulin sensitivity and may be used alongside other ovulation-inducing treatments.
Laparoscopic ovarian drilling
In some cases, especially when clomiphene or Letrozole is not effective, laparoscopic ovarian drilling may be considered a surgical option to improve ovulation.
IVF short for In Vitro Fertilization
IVF is typically reserved for individuals who have not achieved success with other treatments, including ovulation-inducing treatments and procedures.
PCOS doesn’t just affect infertility in women. It affects hormone levels in different moods and causes unwanted hair in different areas of women’s bodies, like upper lip and chest hair, etc.
The funds will be used for whatever treatment plan our fertility specialist recommends, which could be any of which I shared in our story, depending on what they find through blood work and other tests.
This is our story and we are hoping to make Baby Griffith a reality with your help. Thank you for reading our story. From Chrystal Griffith and Elijah Griffith

Shady Grove Fertility clinic
Yes, June 6th at 11 am, we had our consultation with our fertility specialist over at Shady Grove Fertility Center in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania. It did go well, we have Dr Issac Samson on our journey, and also he made some suggestions. Basically, our next steps are blood work for Elijah and me, and also a few other tests for me. Since my A1c is over 6,2 he wants us to wait a year before going through any fertility treatments. However, he did bring up a few options I shared on my TikTok, but I'll share here too. First is just trying on our own we basically because of my age have a 1/40 shot of conceiving this way. IuI with Clomid again the average went up slightly to 3% success rate. And then IVF the success rate went up significantly to 65% and down syndrome risk to none and also egg donation and embryo donation to. Both were about the same average. And also IVF using a surrogate.
After we went over all the options we decided to choose IVF for our treatment plan.
But again, this won't be for a year since my A1C isn't where it should be, same with my blood pressure.
As for those other tests I mentioned, we will be getting Elijah a semen analysis done, and blood work for me. I'll be getting an ultrasound with saline solution to check my eggs and the shape of my uterus, along with the exact numbers. After we get our results I'll post another update. They do offer financial support there at the office to which we didn't know until yesterday.
